Armchair and Table of Silver

The armchair and the table with coverings of silver were both carried out by Andreas Norman. The chair is upholstered with red velvet and has Frederik IV’s monogram and the Norwegian lion embroidered, while the cloth is embroidered with the motto of Frederik IV. Both were birthday gifts from Queen Louise from 1715 and 1716 respectively. In the years 1795-1828, the armchair and the table were used at the opening of the Supreme Court at Rosenborg Castle.

Louise

Louise became Queen of Denmark in 1746. Her father was King George II of Great Britain. In 1743 she was married to Crown Prince Frederik (V). She was the mother of Christian (VII).

Louise

Louise became Queen of Denmark in 1699. She was the daughter of Gustavus Adolf of Mecklenburg-Güstrow. In 1695 she was married to Crown Prince Frederik (IV) and together they had the son Christian (VI).

1700-1725

The 18th century was initiated with yet another war between Denmark and Sweden. For Denmark the war was brief, but for Sweden it was the beginning of the Great Nordic War, which Denmark became part of again from 1709.

Frederik IV

Frederik IV was the King of Denmark-Norway from 1699; son of Christian V and Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. Married for the first time in 1695 to Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, with whom he had Christian (VI).
