Jewel box of gilt silver

Jewel box of gilt silver, ornamented with about two thousand small diamonds. The box was made in Augsburg, c. 1680. Supposedly a present from the subsequent Queen Anne of England, to her mother-in-law, Queen Sophie Amalie.

Silver model showing a landing-stage build for the occasion of Christian VI’s visit in Bergen, Norway, in 1733. Made by the goldsmith Johannes Müller in Bergen 1734.

Silver trowel

Silver trowel used by Christian VI when laying the foundation-stone of Christiansborg Palace in 1733. Later used by Frederik VII when laying the foundation-stone of St. John’s Church in Nørrebro in 1856.

Sophie Amalie

Sophie Amalie became Queen of Denmark in 1648. She was the daughter of Duke George of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and in 1643 she was married to Frederik (III). Sophie Amalie was the mother of Christian V.

1675-1700

From 1675 to 1679 the Scanian War was fought with Sweden. But the final goal, to win back Scania, was not reached as no European state would allow both sides of Øresund to be ruled by the same power again.
