Church Hall

During the years around 1600, Christian IV commissioned a new castle chapel at Koldinghus, situated in the castle’s north-west corner. Above it, he had the Great Hall and the Giants’ Tower built. The four walls are all that remains of the former splendour of the room. In the restoration project, the architects used lighting to suggest the original architecture. The nave is indicated by three large, star-shaped chandeliers, and the ‘street lamps’ hint at the brick-built columns that supported the dome and gallery. Location in the castle The Church Hall is located on the ground floor in the castle’s north-west corner, with direct access from the Castle Courtyard. On the floors above it are the Great Hall and the Giants’ Tower. Capacity Round 8-person tables for 80 persons max. Long tables across the hall for 112 persons max.
