Queen Louise

Photographs began to appear in Denmark during the early 1840’s and were expensive to make. Because of the high price, it was only well-to-do and highly placed people who could afford photographs, which, therefore, became a status symbol. Besides being a status symbol, photographs were an obvious gift for the King, whose family was spread all over Europe.
