Christian IX, 1871

The full-length portrait of Christian IX was painted by H. Olrik in 1871. Christian IX is standing with an English sword he had been given on his birthday on April 8 1865. He is wearing the symbols of the Orders of the Elephant and of the Garter on his uniform. The frame is made of gilt wood; on top is placed a crowned shield with the monogram of Christian IX. The painting is imposing with its 224 cm in height and 143 cm in width.
