By default, The Royal Photographs Collection database is in Danish. Nonetheless, we invite you to contribute to our knowledge about the photographs, no matter where you are from. By registering as user, you get access to suggest information about who and what of the motifs, or about the photographer, or when and where they were taken.

Please note that all contributions will be assessed by the editors of The Royal Photographs Collection before they become publicly available.

The Royal Photographs Collection - conditions of use

Through The Royal Photographic Collection, HM The Queen’s Reference Library, The Royal Danish Collection, publishes digitized copies of a section of its collection of historical photographs. This is done for the benefit of people, who have a professional or private interest in e.g. the history of Danish Royal House, of photography, of fine arts, or of cultural history. Simultaneously, digitalization is means of preservation of the fragile originals. You are allowed to download the photographs for private or educational use or for research. You are also allowed to disseminate and reproduce the copies, if you attribute them to The Royal Photographic Collection, H. M. The Queen’s  Reference Library, The Royal Danish Collection. In doing so, you comply with the principles behind the Creative Commons license Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). The digitized photographs are protected by both Danish and International copyright. Thus, we ask you to be aware that in certain cases, the use of the photographs may require the permission of the copyright holders. This usually holds for the works of living photographers and for their heirs until 70 years after the death of the creator. It is our belief that the photographs published here are liable to be free from any copyright and can be made available to anyone. As a precaution, however, we have chosen to block the download option in cases where we suspect copyright issues could arise. Thus, there will be number of images which can only been consulted online, not downloaded. Should anyone believe they a claim that prohibits public access and use of some of the images, we kindly ask to contact us via haandbiblioteket@kosa.dk. We shall then do our best to correct the error.
